Lament of the Rising Sun

Plato’s parable, elegantly claimed;
Of two that are destined for each other,
one half should fit only the other half,
else all love shall wither and be in vain.

Therefore:
Spring my bow! And let these messages fly,
Straight; to the stranger whom upon my heart lies
In a mysterious tongue, in a mysterious land,
Like balm to a longing heart that is sore.

Have the continents moved with time since?
As ancients with tragic romance bore
Love is a deeply shaded word
An apple beautiful, yet rotten to the core.
